How do you know a photographer is a match for you and your senior? Follow them on Facebook, Instagram etc and stalk them for a bit. Do their images have the feel you want, editing style etc? If not, find one that does. Most professional photographers can't change who they are and what you see is what you get! Talk to them. Are they willing to listen to what you want for posing? Some photographer's can do candid images so well, while otherwise are all about traditional posing. Will your senior be a good match for the photographer? Super shy teens may struggle with the candid look and traditional posing is what makes them comfortable. Candid photography requires a willingness to laugh at yourself, try new things and be open to suggestions without being embarrassed.

I will be taking limited amounts of senior sessions for the 2022 graduating class as my twins will be graduating too and I anticipate a very busy year. Keep in mind editing time, how booked out they may be etc when booking your photographer. So book early!
